About Steve Gill
Steve Gill is a pastor at Community Harvest Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. He has previously taught the Bible in different ministry capacities, including as assistant chaplain and campus minister. He is also the author of the book Signs of the End, a book examining Jesus's teaching to His disciples in the Olivet Discourse.
About Loving the Scriptures
The "Loving the Scriptures" podcast started in July 2017. Before I started this podcast, I had a blog by the same name, though it didn't last long (maybe a few total posts), as I found that I really wasn't into blogging all that much. This is kind of weird, since I like writing all around (I wrote a book, after all). Maybe I will give it another go in the future, but for now I'm content with just the podcast.
The goal of each episode of Loving the Scriptures is to take a detailed look at Scripture texts to understand what they mean and how they speak to us today. A lot of our examinations have been through whole books (e.g. Revelation, Acts, 1 Peter). It is my hope that in delving deep into the Bible, we continue to have a growing love for Scripture and the God who wrote it, and that God would use what we learn toward our transformation.
For decades, people have debated over the different views on the end times. Many Christians find the subject confusing, while others vow to avoid the discussion all together. With all the diverse perspectives out there, how can one come to a clearer understanding of the return of Christ?
In Signs of the End, Steve Gill unpacks Jesus's words to His disciples about the signs of His own return in Mark 13 (the Olivet Discourse). Though not claiming to have all the answers, this book will show that, through examination of Jesus's teaching on the Mount of Olives, one can more effectively interpret the more challenging texts of the end times (books like Daniel and Revelation) in light of the clearer words provided by Jesus Christ Himself. This book will answer such questions as the following:
